First Friday Art Walk – December 2024
Join us for an exciting evening as we welcome artist Courtney Armstrong to the Topeka art community. With her unique blend of precision and emotion, Courtney’s work speaks to the beauty found in the details of everyday life and nature. Whether you’re drawn to lifelike portraits or her vibrant still life compositions, Courtney’s art offers something extraordinary for every viewer.
Courtney is a realist artist who recently relocated to Topeka, bringing with her a wealth of experience and fresh possibilities. She holds an Associate of Arts in Music from Rochester Community College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Winona State College in Minnesota. Her diverse background includes performing music professionally, teaching drawing, watercolor, and pastels, and enjoying a long career as a graphic artist in engineering—a combination that has refined her current fastidious drawing style.
Courtney’s artistic approach combines meticulous technique with deep emotion. Her lifelike portrait drawings, especially her depictions of horses, are a testament to her exceptional skill and attention to detail. In her pastel paintings, she captures the spirit of her subjects with clarity and emotion, while her still life compositions stand out for their bold colors, unique arrangements, and intricate textures.
An award-winning artist, Courtney has participated in numerous art competitions and held successful solo exhibitions while living in Denver. She has been an active member of several artist guilds, both in Denver and now in Topeka, where she continues to inspire others with her remarkable work.
