First Friday Art Walk – December 2019

Beverly Dodge Radefeld, a long-time personal friend of NexLynx Gallery, doesn’t like to just focus on one medium, but is diverse in soft sculptures, oil paintings and photography. She feels each medium influences one another, challenging her creativity and providing her a passion for everything she does.

Early in her career, Beverly found soft sculpture as an outlet to deal with personal grief. Her soft sculpture work has been shown nationwide and throughout England, Ireland and Japan. Twice, her work was selected to ornament the White House Christmas Tree.

A few years ago, Beverly participated at a “plein air” retreat, the act of painting outdoors, which rekindled her love for painting. She is inspired by the beautiful Kansas landscapes becoming excited about the simple shapes of the Flint Hills and the color of the open sky. While she enjoys painting the wide-open spaces, the photos give her a chance to capture the intimate times that happen in an instant.
