First Friday Art Walk – December 2017

Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday December 1st from 5pm to 8pm, to view the scenic Kansas paintings by Kathleen Cobb during our First Friday Art Walk.

Capturing the beauty of the Kansas landscape and the American West is the main focus of Kathleen’s paintings, paying special attention to the light in each scene whether it’s the golden light on an autumn afternoon or the subtle light of a cloudy day, or catching the atmosphere of distant rain squalls over wide-open spaces.

Kathleen’s first love is painting in oils, but also works in acrylics and pastels. The desire to travel allows her to paint, “en plein air”, the act of painting outdoors, where she seeks inspiration from the land’s natural beauty. If she is unable to paint on location, she takes reference photos or sketches a scene.

While continuing to educate herself over the years by taking workshops from nationally known artists, Kathleen has received numerous awards and is a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS), and the Topeka Art Guild. She is presently a studio artist at Studio 831 in the NOTO Art District.
