First Friday Art Walk – July 2017

Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday July 7th from 5pm to 8pm, to view the artwork of talented artist, Diane Lawrence in the exhibit “Skies”, during our First Friday Art Walk.

Originally from St. Louis, Diane graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a B.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking. She then went on to receive her teaching certification from the University of Missouri and continues to teach in her studio, workshops and gives demonstrations in Kansas and Missouri in Silk Painting and Watercolor. Because of her experience, she was selected as an instructor for Silk Painters International Conferences.

Nature inspires Diane with many surprises in color and pattern. Her focus as an artist has always been color. Trying to achieve colors so intense that the viewer is drawn to the art work, like a moth to a flame. The purpose of her paintings is to make us more aware of our surroundings and their beauty. The challenge of depicting these marvels continues to keep her looking forward to each new painting.

Diane has received many awards and been published in several magazines as well as been featured on KTWU’s “Kansas Arts Today”. She is also on the Board of Directors for Silk Painters International. For more information about the artist, visit www.dlawrence.faso.com.
