First Friday Art Walk – November 2016

Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday November 4th from 5pm to 8pm, to view the pastels and mixed media exhibit, Water Marks, by Barbara Solberg, during our First Friday Art Walk.

The creative inspiration for Barbara’s art are places, whether familiar Kansas landscapes or new vistas from her travels. An ongoing fascination with ancient cultures began in Great Britain where she lived for several years and visiting many important Native American sites in the Southwest and Midwest.

Barbara works in a variety of media including acrylic and oil, as well as the printmaking processes of lithography and monoprinting. She likes creating collages using these techniques where the natural objects from her travels find their way into her art either as source of color, texture or shape. By stitching objects such as stones, shells, petals or leaves to layers of handmade paper, Barbara creates a deep texture that adds visual strength to the collages.
