First Friday Art Walk – October 2016
Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday October 7th from 5pm to 8pm, to view the unique sand toning artwork, 3D Paintings, photographic prints and photomations by Azyz Sharafy, during our First Friday Art Walk.
NexLynx is Downtown Topeka’s premier gallery stop on the First Friday Art Walk since November 2010 displaying hundreds of original photographs, paintings, carvings and sculptures from dozens of local and regional artists.
Azyz Sharafy affectionately known as “Sharafy”, is a Professor of Studio/Electronic Arts and Graphic Design at Washburn University. He teaches Drawing, 2 & 3 Dimensional Design, Graphic Design, Electronic Arts, Video Editing, 2 & 3 Dimensional Animation, Digital Painting, Video Game Design, Special Effects, 3D Printing and Social Media, and is the founding member of Visual Artists of Topeka.
His conceptual artworks are based on nature, spirituality and socio-political ideas exploring new media, materials, software, hardware and technology. Recent awards include: Herrick Faculty Award for Outstanding Service, 2015 Washburn University and the Sweet Summer Sabbatical Award, also from Washburn University, 2016.
Sharafy has a Master of Art in Education from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Painting from the University of Baroda, India.
