First Friday Art Walk – July 2016
Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday July 1st from 5pm to 8pm, to observe how Susan Rose captures the beauty of nature in her paintings during our First Friday Art Walk.
NexLynx is Downtown Topeka’s premier gallery stop on the First Friday Art Walk since November 2010 displaying hundreds of original photographs, paintings, carvings and sculptures from dozens of local and regional artists.
Susan is inspired by the beauty of the prairie, the sky and the creatures that call it home. She refers to the natural world around her as “God’s Canvas”, and is challenged to capture in her art an essence of what is observed. She is particularly drawn to focus on the small, but stunning, elements in nature that are easily overlooked or taken for granted.
Her first love in creating art was graphite pencil with a touch of watercolor, but now her primary medium is acrylic, watercolor and oils. The subject of most of her work is nature and the Flint Hills displaying her love of outdoor life and animals. This is enhanced by rural living in “a little house on the prairie.”
Susan’s work has been selected in juried regional and international shows; invitational exhibits and is in numerous private collections. She is an active member of The Columbian Artist Group as well as the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society. To view more of her work, visit www.susanrosefineart.com.
