First Friday Art Walk – June 2016

Stop by NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday June 3rd from 5pm to 8pm, to view the vibrant, abstract paintings of Janet Bailey’s exhibit, Earth, Sky and Beyond during our First Friday Art Walk.

NexLynx is Downtown Topeka’s premier gallery stop on the First Friday Art Walk since November 2010 displaying hundreds of original photographs, paintings, carvings and sculptures from dozens of local and regional artists.

Janet has been influenced by several aspects in her life which helped shape her artistic style and how she creates her current paintings of translucent layers. As a child, she received her sense of design from her mother. Working at Glass Expressions for ten years, allowed her to see exquisite and beautiful hand blown glass in abstract forms and brilliant colors that made her think about art differently. Janet feels that even though she does abstract work, you don’t just throw the paint on. You really have to think about layers, colors, and design of each piece.

Her art has been displayed at various galleries such as Beauchamp’s, Mulvane Art Museum, Collective Art Gallery and currently in her studio in NOTO. Janet won First Prize at Beauchamp’s with “Transition” in the “Think Big Topeka” exhibit in 2010. This painting now resides in the NexLynx private collection.
