Art is Gail’s passion and life’s work. Having the opportunity to teach, share, explore, and learn about its process is a gift. Her artistic style reflects the diversity that comes with being a teacher, striving to create interest, excitement and intrigue.

Her non-objective acrylic paintings show the relationships between colors and textures, from subtle change to strong contrast. She uses many tools besides brushes – sponges, texture tools, stamps, or whatever will create an interesting shape or texture. Working in this experimental manner, allows her to be spontaneous and free from structure amidst our busy lives. That being said, careful thought must still be given to the use of color, shape, pattern, and texture within the concept of the design elements and principles.

Though acrylic painting is Gail’s main medium, she also works with digital art. Sometimes her digital work is based on a photograph she has taken, or it may begin at the computer and “paint” in a style very similar to that of her acrylic paintings. The computer can be a very versatile art tool. It has a steep learning curve, but it provides many options that allow experimenting with color and texture in a way much more forgiving than with acrylics.

The creative process, whether it be in the classroom or at home in her studio, is the most rewarding aspect of Gail’s career. For more details about her work, visit gailbeanfineart.com.
