First Friday Art Walk – February 2022

As a native Kansan, Phyllis enjoys the marvels of our state, getting her interpretations from its beauty. She has been painting for the past 40 years, always learning more through workshops with many talented teachers.

Many of her watercolor paintings are “plein air” as well as based on photographs she has taken of Kansas. In recent years, Phyllis enjoys painting at different locations with a small band of painters in the Spring and Fall months of the year. Most recently, she has returned to life drawing as well. Allowing her to open up through her paintings is a source of challenge and intrigue, motivating her to look a little closer and to also squint at the big picture.

Phyllis’ commitment to the Topeka Art Guild has been an uninterrupted joy for many years, having served on the Board and Executive Committee as Workshop Chairman, Pictorial Historian, Chairman of the 100th Year Celebration, and now as Volunteer Coordinator for the past several years. She is currently a member of Mulvane Art Gallery, Palco Art Club, and a Life Member of the Topeka Art Guild.
