First Friday Art Walk – May 2017
Discover Art Downtown at NexLynx Gallery of Arts, Friday May 5th from 5pm to 8pm, to view the folk style artwork of Linda Ross Asbury during our First Friday Art Walk.
Linda Ross Asbury has loved art ever since she was a young age where she would draw on anything. As she grew older, she started with painting scenes on birdhouses which lead to commissioned work on saw blades. After joining the Columbian Artist Group in Wamego, she was encouraged to try painting on canvas with acrylics.
Her artist career began after being diagnosed with severe narcolepsy in 2010, then cancer in 2012. Dealing with ongoing health issues, lead her to use the gifts God gave her. The images come from her “old mind” and she doesn’t always know what the painting will be until it is finished. Linda sees nature full of vibrant colors and beauty which she tries to portray in her paintings.
She has exhibited at places such as Kansas State Student Union, Swogger Gallery, and The Flower Nook in Salina. Check out Old Mind Designs on Facebook for more of her work.
As always, we will have snacks, soda, craft beer and wine. Or try one of several varieties of iced or hot tea or coffee from the brew station.
We hope to see you here!
